Colorado Part 2

The latter half of our time in Colorado was simple and sweet. The weather was still a mess. It was really nice that everyone said they had never seen snow this time of year...yeah...it came just for us. It’s okay. It was as it was supposed to be.

April came on this trip to visit her family in Colorado. It worked out well for me for a few reasons. She was able to keep me company on Wednesday and Thursday while Kaleb worked. I was appreciative of the company especially with the weather. The last time we had to come out this way, I just sat by the pool the entire time. I don’t need to tell you how that wasn’t an option this time. I joked with my sister saying, “I cant believe I got a spray tan for this”. All that to say, I was glad to have a friend.

April and I took our time getting up and going Wednesday, and then headed out to Manitou Springs to do a little gift shopping and eat lunch. We bought some great things including some Native American made jewelry and this awesome sweatshirt. We also ate some pretty great Mediterranean food, and then headed back so I could get ready to take pictures in the Garden of the Gods when Kaleb got home.

I did just that. I got ready and then he arrived right when I was done. I did not feel my best this day but I knew it was the only chance we had to get pictures. I wanted just one recent photo of us for my wall. When we arrived at the park, it started to rain and it was freezing. I wanted to cry, but I held it together for the sake of my wall. Haha! But really. My hair looked so stringy in some of them and we took around 1000. April and I joked that out of 1000 pictures I would like 10. She guessed 3. Lol, I ended up liking around 30, which leaves me with a bigger problem… I don’t know which one to put on my wall. I don’t want to be those people with 30 photos of themselves all throughout their home, but I just might. I am so thankful for the way they turned out. April did a great job. The rain stopped and we got some beautiful pictures. But it was still freezing. Maybe one day I will get over going to CO at the end of May and almost freezing to death. Maybe.

We left the Garden and went to dinner to eat and thaw out. We went to a little hole in the wall Mexican Restaurant recommended by a friend in CO, El Rey Del Taco # 2. It was very good. I ordered the Chile Colorado Burrito, cause when in Rome...right? It was soooo good.

Thursday came too soon, as it was our last day in Colorado Springs. Again, the weather….. Yeah. Two different people recommended that we go to The Broadmoor Hotel so that's what we did with Thursday. I am so glad we did. It was wonderful, and right up my alley. April’s? Not so much, but she's a trooper and a true friend. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and scenery of The Broadmoor. Its a beautiful place.

The Broadmoor Lake

We ate some very overpriced food for lunch at the Natural Epicurean. It was okay, but you're paying for the experience for sure. I find that to be the case for most things of this nature.

Would I eat here again? Sure, but I would get the same juice and the cheapest thing on the menu just to sit with my friend and look out on the beautiful view. We then left there and went to a Julie’s Cafe also located on the grounds. After we saw the desserts, we couldn't resist.

Choose the swan!!!

We got some strawberry thing not much worth mentioning, but the swan… the swan was heavenly, And it paired with the worlds best London Fog that I ordered may have been the best thing I tasted the entire time I was there in Colorado. It was delicious. They make all the sweets from scratch and you can watch through the window in the cafe. I am not surprised. If you have been or if you ever go, you will see that they aren't the kind of place to skimp.

We left the hotel just in time for Kaleb to get back and have dinner at Bambino’s Urban Pizzaria. It was good, but I was not hungry because of all I ate earlier ya know? (The swan. The London Fog).I barely ate any at all but everyone loved theirs and it's a cute place.

We went back to the hotel and packed up to leave the next day for a 5 hour drive to Utah. It was a great way to spend my last day in Colorado Springs and if I went back, I would do it all again. When I go back, I will do it all again.
