April's Tiny House

Updated: Jan 6, 2019

I could never see myself living in a tiny house until April and I set out on the adventure of renovating hers. With my design and her dedication we made this space perfect for her in every way.

I added lots of white to brighten up the 100 sqft space and make it seem bigger and more open. I also wanted to add texture decor that captured April's wanderlust/outdoor/Paul Bunyan type spirit. Hence the map pattern and the bow (much to my chagrin). I did find a way to incorporate it and find a compromise for us both.

Before

As you can see, there was lots of that funky manufactured brown. Gross.... That had to go. We started with sanding and sanding and more sanding. I thought it would never end... A tiny house seems not so tiny when you are sanding every single area, corner, and cranny. Then it was on to priming. Apparently, paint has a hard time sticking to the walls of an RV so we had to take some precautions.

of course no day's work is complete without chips and salsa... we live for that. Always.

I took my time to make sure that we saved space while still making this space feel cozy and like home. Every ounce of space counts when your house is tiny. I also had to do quite a bit of sewing to accommodate for the the smaller features such as the bunk curtains, and shower curtain. I felt like a real bonafide designer. Below are before and after pics of each area.

We decided to leave the kitchen dark but still take out the brown. I wanted to have contrast to separate it from the rest of the space. I love how it turned out. This was actually take 2. The first time they looked purple (not what we were going for).

Now for my favorite part... The bunks! I love love love how they ended up. They are now so fresh and light and beautiful to hold all April's yarn and winter clothes...yeah....

Excuse the sloppily made beds. They are so hard to work with

The rest of the RV is below. We had so much fun and we BOTH loved how it turned out. Which I call a major success because though we are the best of friends, we could not be more different. She trusted me and is ever so glad she did.

Dining area with live plants and fur pillows :)

You cant go wrong with real wood and fake greenery

I love these curtains. I now want some for my house, but I am so tired of sewing.

...and last but not least, a fresh clean bathroom.
